Product Description
Thai mangrove forest was inspired by a trip to a stunning island Railay in Thailand, loved my visit in January 22. Myself and my daughter walked around the perimeter of the island around the quiet backwaters and stumbled across this stunning view. My daughter took the shot of this view and I knew immediately that I would needle felt this scene once home in the studio. It was like stumbling upon a hidden part of Railay, quiet and eerie away from tourists and so beautiful. Once home I immersed myself in this felting , totally transporting me back there, with a sense of carefree wellbeing. The colours are so vibrant, turquoise blue sea, pale blue skies and lime greens mixed with deep greens contrast with the dark tones of the trees, standing magnificently on golden sands. I have felted the trees in 3D so that they jump out of the picture, roots interlocking and forcing their way out of the frame. It is a very textural piece with the wool softly felted in3D relief, a successful interpretation of the incredible scene we stumbled across, a great memory. Thai mangrove forest is a large piece, 35cm x 35 cm framed , actual felted area 25cm x 25cm.
