Paris cafe scene was inspired whilst visiting my son in Paris. I came across this delightful shop frontage and quickly took a photograph. I have tried to give the foliage as much life as possible as it cascaded down the window frames. The shutters were a challenge to needle felt but I really like the effect. I have to really persuade the wool to do what I want it do when working on buildings with their straight edges and uniformity. Paris cafe scene was joyful to felt, it gave me the chance to work on straight lines, architecture, windows and the challenges these bring up. The table and chairs were equally a challenge to reach a likeness using soft wool that wants to curl up and fluff. The red frames of the shutters contrast well with the free flowing fauna and invite the eye to take a seat and enjoy the scene. Felting the foliage I could really let my imagination run freely and then let the wool do what it wanted to do much more. This quaint little scene was a pleasure to complete, a great memory of our strolls through the narrow streets of Paris.
