Canal Bridge View, Stonehouse, The Cotswolds

£245.00

View from the Canal Bridge, Stonehouse.
Another leisurely walk along the canal on a summers day, prompted me to take this photograph, framing the view of St Cyrs Church with the canal bridge. The eye is drawn to the scene beyond, the church is bathed in light , whilst the water, bricks and path are immersed in contrasting dark shadow.
The church sits serene, nestled in greenery with the cross visible in front. At the forefront of the picture, the tree and bridge walls are reflected in the water, the light catching them. I wanted to give a sense of the canal continuously flowing, so allowed the wool to tumble out of the frame.

Product Description

Canal bridge view was inspired by a walk I took along my local canal in Stroud. I was so impressed by the bridge building at Nutshell bridge on the canal, almost in Stonehouse. The view through the bridge to ST Cyrs church was so picturesque, I knew I had to capture this home from home scene in needle felt. The brick work was difficult to reproduce in wool, but meditative in the doing. The foliage and trees much freer and the reflections made me really observe the scene, to look closer at the changing water surface. The pop of bright blue of the reflected sky in the water, draws the eye inwards to the scene beyond of the church and graveyard.
